The tunnel ends abruptly at a scarred rockface. It’s not clear why the excavation work was discontinued but it is obvious that you won’t be going much further down this passageway.

The remains of rusty implements lead you to believe that this was the former tool shed. You find:
You find the bare bones of an adventurer’s skeleton. Since his bread bag stills contains some dried-up crusts, it doesn’t seem that he died from lack of food. As you glance about trying to determine the cause of death you spot a water skin which has been torn to shreds.. Hmm.. Dehydration maybe?

You notice a hole in the floor. Although it is too small for any of you to fit through, it is quite large enough for the rats and, at the very least, provides some needed air circulation.
The room you have entered is in complete disorder. Given the improvised fireplace, the broken water barrel and the sorry remains of what could only be bunk beds, this must have been a sort of common room once. Lying amidst the debris are five skeletons probably belonging to the miners caught by the sudden collapse that blocked the door — they must have starved.
Much to your astonishment, the skeletons rise and advance menacingly…

With an almighty crash the ceiling above you collapses without warning and buries the lot of you under piles of splintered rock.
It takes a minute for you to shake off the shock and realize that you are still alive. With great determination you slowly dig yourselves out and breathe a sigh of relief as you are able to continue on your way.
