f094 - Daspota Treasure

The odor emanating from this room tells you that it’s definitely been used for the relief of certain… well… body functions. Next to the latrine lies a book with the title “Collected sayings of Emperor Hal”.
Do you want to take it?

A few cots and lockers indicate that this has been used as the sleeping quarters.
Do you want to examine them?

You find several pieces of clothing sorted into extremely audacious color arrangements.

Also, [NAME] discovers [N] ducats under one of the mattresses.

The barrels and chests here contain a wide variety of foodstuffs.
Do you replenish your provisions?

[NAME] gets hit by a flurry crossbow bolts. Too late you notice the holes in the walls.

The pattern on the floor catches your attention. It just seems to sport a few too many regular grooves to be created by anything natural.
Do you want to take a closer look?

Apparently there is a trapdoor in the floor here.

You discover a loose brick in the wall behind you which, as you pry it away, hides a lever.
Do you pull the lever?

You hear a soft, grating noise from the trapdoor.

More by accident than design, you discover a secret compartment. You cautiously open it and find a small box containing a golden key and 30 ducats worth of gold.
Do you want to take the loot?

[NAME] is hit by a crossbow bolt.

[NAME] gets ventilated by a barrage of crossbow bolts.

The floor in front of you seems somewhat discolored, as if those stones had been laid there only recently.
Do you

  • Go on?
  • Jump across?
  • Examine the floor?

[NAME] has fallen into a pit trap full of spears. Fortunately it’s only a brief struggle until [NAME] manages to climb out again.

Inspecting the floor, trying desperately to solve the riddle before you, you feel a slight tremor a mere second before it gives way underneath [NAME]. As [NAME] plunges into a pit full of spears the rest of the group stands helpless. [NAME] manages to climb out of the fiendish trap and the rest of you stare in alarm at the painful wounds covering [NAME] body.

[NAME] did not jump far enough. The floor gave way and [NAME] fell into a pit trap filled with spears. Fortunately, [NAME] manages to climb out alive.

The wall has a small, ragged hole opening into darkness here.
Does anyone put a hand in?

There seems to be a lever in there.
Do you want to pull it?

[NAME] jerks back. A discolored fluid jets out of the ceiling, causing a painful burning sensation where it has splashed on the party. The lever stays in its old position.

A soft click reaches your ears.

With a loud screeching noise, a giant flashing blade falls from the ceiling right onto [NAME].

[NAME] can jump out of the way just in time. The blade stops just above the floor and then slowly slides up again into a narrow slit on the ceiling.

It wounds [NAME] quite seriously before disappearing back into the ceiling.

There are two statuettes of thorwalians standing here.
Do you examine them closer?

[NAME] feels a stabbing pain in the hand holding the statuettes which disappears once [NAME] lets go. The brief grip on the statues reveals them to be solidly attached.

Three pirates approach. One of them, easily the most imposing of the three, [NAME].
“This is the end of the road for you, thieves! No one steals from us and gets away with it, least of all you!” he bellows.

[Is Estorik, the leader of the Daspota pirates.]

[Seems to be their leader.]

The chest contains only a heap of books.

They’re ledgers listing the loot collected by the pirates known to be from a hamlet called Daspota. However, these ledgers were written decades ago, which probably makes them totally useless to you.

There is a massive barrel of port here. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been tapped yet, and you can’t lift it either. So it is really quite useless to you, apart from making you long for the taste of some good Premian brandy!

Finally! It seems that you have located the famous treasure of Daspota. There before you is a mountain of glittering gold coins, jewelry and other valuables, looted and collected by the pirates of Daspota at who knows what cost to innocent people. Of course you snatch up all of the money - 500 ducats worth — first, before sorting through the rest as well.

You leave this gloomy hideout and wearily continue towards [NAME]. Hours later, you reach your goal.
