~ Tumblefown Inn

Inside the chest you find a strange device consisting of numerous crystals emitting a soft purple glow resting on a bed of rich velvet.

  • Want to take it with you?
  • Try to smash the device?

This is obviously the former cold cellar as the air here is markedly cooler than next door. To be precise, it’s bleedin’ freezing in here.

You do not know whether this is due to some special feature of the walls or if the hands of magic are at work here.

The walls of this room are iridescent with a weak, bluish tint.

Apparently the innkeeper used this room to store his valuables.

A sticky sort of fluid covers the floor, but despite the extra effort to pick up your feet you reach the other side of the hallway without a problem.

Suddenly, [NAME] stops and stands very still, rooted to the spot. [NAME]’s feet are stuck to the floor, which you notice is covered with a sticky sort of fluid here.

As much as [NAME] tries, [NAME] remains stick! There seems to be no escape!

[NAME] manages to break the fluid’s grip!

The room is completely empty except for the strange design drawn in a brownish hue in the center of the floor. It takes a minute before you recognize it as a pentagram - and only seconds before a figure seems to take shape from the center of the diagram. Hollow eyes stare at you from a horribly distorted face and you feel as if the ghostly being is trying to rip your very souls out of your bodies.

There is a statue of a beheaded raven here — obviously a calculated insult to boron.
Do you want to smash this blasphemous outrage?

Just as you hit the statue, a flash of light shoots through the room. After some minutes, you regain your sight and notice that not only is the statue gone, but a new corridor entrance has appeared in the western wall.

You hear a rasping sound echoing through the corridor.

On the northern wall is an inscription:
Beware after three steps to the left.

On the southern wall is an inscription:
Beware after three steps to the left.

In this alcove a disheveled man is chained to the wall. As he sees you he becomes quite agitated, thrashing against the shackles which restrain him. He is obviously out of his mind.
You can barely understand his words as he keeps muttering: “The sphere is rent, the sphere is rent, only a few hours left…” you loosen his chains, but he makes no attempt to run away.

You come upon the remains of a young wanderer. The position of the body and the condition of the wounds indicate that he was quite recently slain in his sleep by zombies.

The wanderer still carries:

There’s nothing to get here!

Looks like someone has been performing alchemy experiments on this table.

There is a lever is sticking out from the wall.

You can hear a soft click.

The air around you begins to take on a purplish hue.

A mechanical lift goes upwards from here.

  • Continue searching this room?

Apart from the two magicians and the mummies who appear to be guarding the place, the room is empty. On the floor you see a heptagram drawn in fresh blood. A strange, greenish kind of mist is floating above it, with vague shapes starting to coalesce.

  • Interrupt the summoning?
  • Get the heck out here?

Apart from the four zombies advancing menacingly, this room is remarkably empty.

A skeleton shakes off its chains and attacks you!

The large room is filled with a foul, stinking odor. Through clouds of brown smoke you can see an alchemist at work at his table. Ah, looks like he has seen you too. As he makes a small gesture in your direction, five unidentifiable shadows come through the mist and attack!

This room looks amazingly like a torture chamber. The walls are covered with various instruments of torture that call up images so unpleasant that you decide not to proceed with that kind of thinking.

A small, but muscular, man is in the process of cleaning the dried blood from an iron maiden. When he sees you, he bellows a loud war cry and attacks!

After a close examination of the wall, [NAME] finds a secret door.

It’s a shame but [NAME] cannot open it

When [NAME] starts playing around with the lock, the door snaps open with a loud bang!

[NAME] is hit by a crossbow bolt.

Through some stunningly incompetent use of magic, the space-time-continuity has been ripped apart in this room. Unfortunately, you get to experience the effect first hand, as you are sucked right into the void…

[NAME] suddenly starts to moan. [NAME] feels an icy, stifling coldness and paralysis take over. Within mere seconds, [NAME] is totally unable to move!
[NAME] has been turned to stone!

A mechanical lift goes downwards from here.

Mentally and physically exhausted, you leave the tumbledown inn and drag yourself to the real destination of your journey, [NAME], where you arrive some hours later.
