Vorlop Fernel

“Vorlop Fernel, Teacher” it says on the plain sign by the door.
A bit hesitantly, [NAME] knocks.

Have you come for tutoring?

Ah, it’s you!

the teacher smiles.

Would you like private tutoring?

The teacher nods at you in a friendly manner:

Any more questions, or did you want to take a lesson?

Does Riva have anything of interest to offer?

There’s the old watchtower at the harbor. There’ve been thoughts about tearing it down, but in the end the city corporation just had it bricked up. That was cheaper! It didn’t help any, though, it’s still said to be haunted.

There’s an old tower near the geyser. Its inhabitants are suspected of conducting experiments in black magic. There have been rumblings about an investigation many times, but as the area is quite difficult to reach and the guards do have more pressing duties, nothing has been done about it yet.

We have had problems with pirate attacks lately. It seems that the pirates have set up camp on Sorrek so that they can strike at any tempting target without delay. Fortunately, they haven’t attacked the town directly yet.

There is a small dwarven mine east of town - quite unusual for this close to the coastline. Personally, I have no explanation for the dwarves digging here of all places; the yield is sure to be higher elsewhere.

Do you think the Holberkians are behind the orc uprising?

No. While I’ve been unable to completely understand the Holberkian mindset, they do appear to be quite peace-loving. Also, I find it hard to believe the orcs would allow themselves to be influenced by members of another people.

Do you know the rat-catcher?

Not personally, no.

Do you believe there are monsters hiding in the sewers?

That is the sort of theory that’s usually put forward in a state of advanced inebriation. If you don’t have any sensible questions to ask, you should consider leaving!

Can you tell us something about the guild and the tradesmaster?

Ui Chearghail is definitely a clever man. Whether his deals are legal or not, I can’t say, but they are always well-planned.

Do you know a fellow named Tarik?

Certainly. Tarik is a clever fellow. I’m fairly certain he draws money from both sides.

Could you give us some information on the judge?

Lately, Bosper Jarnug isn’t showing the care you’d expect from someone in his position. At times, his actions appear arbitrary, though I haven’t been able to deduce any specific goal he might be aiming for.

If anyone of you is interested in taking lessons, I have a few hours free in the evenings!

Have a nice day now.

Well, I must go and prepare a few lessons now. If one or the other of you is interested in tutoring, I could make time for a lesson or two in the evening.

Well then, I still have a few lessons to prepare. Do have a nice day now!
