Animations

Determines the resolution used for animated sequences.

VGA:
Normal resolution, 320x200 pixels.
SVGA:
VESA 640x400 pixels (requires VESA compatible graphics card or graphics card with VESA-driver and a fast CD-Rom drive).

Determines the position of menu boxes.

SVGA Delay

Some monitors need a bit of time to build up a new picture after switching from VGA to SVGA.
Enter the appropriate value in seconds for your monitor here. You can try different values using the “Test- button”.
The settings are correct if you can see the creation of the numbers “1” to “10” after pressing the “test-button”. If you cannot see the numbers, please increase the waiting time.

Characs Per Line

Set the number of characters per line available on your printer. (Standard:^80).

Lines Per Page

Set the number of lines per page your printer prints. (Standard:^64).

Volume Balance

Depending on the computer used, the volume of the music soundtrack may be too loud or too soft in comparison with the sound effects.
Adjust the balance between music^/^SoundFX here.

Play Mode

Here, you can decide in which mode you want to play “Shadows Over Riva”.

Novice:
The game takes care of most of the character administration for you.
Advanced:
You manage every aspect of your characters yourself.

You should consider activating the screen saver for your monitor’s sake.

3D Viewing

The deeper the view, the slower the graphics and vice versa.

Near:
Very fast, but you only see a few steps ahead.

3D Detail

To speed up the 3D graphics, you can reduce the detail displayed. Of course, this will also reduce the attractiveness of the picture.

Test

Some monitors need a little time to build a new picture after switching from VGA to SVGA.
If you can see the building of the number 1 in the following animation, everything is fine. If not, enter a higher delay value!

Unfortunately, SVGA is only available on systems using a VESA compatible graphics card and/or driver, as well as a fast CD-ROM drive.
Your system does not fulfill these requirements.

With kilobytes per second, your CD ROM drive’s measured transfer rate is too slow to display the linking SVGA animations (Minimal requirement is %).
