Thorgrim the Strong

Hello, visitors. What do you want with me?

The Firun-priestess sent us here, Sina Leska! It’s about Boron’s Field…

Hey, you need help? Hold on, I’ll just grab my trusty axe here!

Ummm…, not so fast, we’ve got a few questions first…

The dwarf looks somewhat disappointed:

All right then, what do you want to know?

We’ve only just arrived in town, and we’re trying to get our bearings.

I see. Well, what do you want to know?

Ah, it’s you, hello! To what do I owe the pleasure?

Anything interesting in this town, is there?

Interesting? Why, sure! There’s the ‘Rapture’ and the Public Baths, both very popular. The girls are a bit tall for my taste, but you’re willing to overlook a thing like that, when it’s been long enough since you’ve seen one up close… - I always get dunked in the tub first at the ‘Rapture’, so I’ve made a habit of visiting the bathhouse. It’s not just the tubs that are of a better quality there.

It’s unbelievable what’s happened to the mine! - I came here with the others at the start, and I’ve worked at the mine for a while, too, until I ‘deserted’, as Radomil would probably have called it. So what, I’m not part of his entourage, I was just hired on.

Do you believe in a conspiracy of the Holberkians and the orcs?

Well, I’ve been in town long enough to notice that quite a number of people have been behaving a bit peculiar lately. Definitely different from the way they used to act. They might be under some sort of foreign influence. In any case, their change is favorable to the orcs, but I can’t quite fit in the Holberkians yet…

Not really, not anymore! I’m still convinced someone out there is aiding the orcs, but no way is it the Holberkians. That scene on the market square recently was disgraceful!

Do you know the rat-catcher?

Not personally, but someone who spends his day underground is all right in my book.

What do you think of the stories about monsters down in the sewers?

I’ve been down there myself a number of times. You never get over the underground life altogether, after spending half your life in some sort of cave or another. But I haven’t met anything but rats and guild members.

You were luckier than us then, we’ve come across a vampire!

Thorgrim’s eyes grow wide, and he looks at you suspiciously to see if you’re trying to pull his leg. Only then does he believe you.

Tell me!

he says. Then he listens, fascinated by your story about Mandara and the pursuit by the guild.

Do you know anything about the guild and the tradesmaster?

You come across guild members often enough in the sewers. I usually hide, but just recently I’ve clobbered two of them who tried to tell me where to go and where not!
It was fairly dark, so they couldn’t have recognized me, and there’s enough dwarves living around here. Otherwise, that could have been uncomfortable. The guild is quite touchy about its secrets staying that way.

Do you know that fellow, Tarik?

Of course, who doesn’t? I must say, he still has excellent contacts with the guild for someone who’s supposed to be spying for the judge!

Do you know anything about Bosper Jarnug, the judge?

He’s been getting in involved with just about anything lately! Some time ago, he hired his very own spy, that Tarik fellow, who wanders around all day interrogating people. I only hope Jarnug doesn’t know what sort of a catch he’s made with him!

Enough idle talk! What are you planning? Could you use another fighter?

Do you:

Take the dwarf along

Move on without him

Hang on, I’ll just grab my trusty axe here!

Thorgrim is disappointed:

Oh, all right then, but be sure to call if you do need me!
