Smoke

Smoke! There’s smoke on the horizon! There must be a fire beyond the next turn, the next hill! It doesn’t appear to be a forest fire, though, as the smoke appears thin and feathery, as if caused by a thousand small fires. And now the wind carries the smell to your noses, a smell of fire, of frying meat and somehow of wet fur!?
