[NAME] finds [N] portions of whirlweed growing alongside the road!
The path follows a winding valley deeper and deeper into the mountains. Along the way, the walls grow ever more sheer. You appear to pass one ideal ambush spot after another. Do you want to
* walk along same as always or
* watch out ahead?
You have entered the mountains. There are numerous places along the way where one missed step could prove fatal. Do you want to
* walk along as always or
* rope up?
With what, pray tell?
???
, but first things first: you fill your water skins
You have noticed a movement beyond the next turn, but when you investigate, you don’t find anything.
The path gets ever narrower and the canyon get ever deeper.
You are standing on the bank of the Finster~/Svellt. There’s a ford leading across. Do you want to
* cross the ford or
* turn around and find a better way across?
[NAME] reaches the other bank safely
[NAME] takes an unintended bath!

You reach the bank of the Svellt. The road ends on a small area around a ferry station. On the river, you can see the raft of the ferry. It is approaching this bank. Do you want to
* ask the ferryman about hauling you over or
* turn around and find your way along this river bank?
Arrow
Spear
After quickly filling your water skins in the river, you continue on your way.
Early in the morning, the ferryman returns. After a short trip across the water, you reach the opposite bank.
The ferryman is none to friendly: “You want across? That’ll be [N] Silvers per head if you wait until I’ve got enough passengers, or [N] Silvers if you’re in a hurry. So, what’ll it be then?”
* “We are in a hurry. Here’s your [N] Crowns per head. Now get moving!”
* “Thanks, we’d rather find a different way.”
* “We’ll wait until your craft is full.”
* “We can’t afford to have you carry us across right away. Guess we’ll have to wait for other passengers.”
You cannot afford the passage and have no choice but to turn around. But before you do, you give the ferryman a piece of your mind:
“Those fares of yours are price gouging. We’ll find our own way, thank you very much.”
You wait [N] hours for enough passengers to show up. After a short trip, you reach the opposite bank.
“I guess there won’t be enough passengers along today. Not at this hour,” the ferryman says and starts to go home. Do you want to
* set camp for the night,
* choose another way after all,
* or stop the ferryman: “In that case, get us across now.”
You ask the ferryman about taking you across for a reduced price, but he’s adamant. You are forced to wait until the next morning.
After a short trip, you reach the opposite bank.
Within the last few minutes, the path became wetter and wetter. [NAME] has sunk into the mud up to both knees a number of times. Now, you even notice some swamp holes ahead. Do you want to
The path into the Brinask Marches get muddier by the second. A number of time snow, [NAME] has sunk into the deep mud up to the hips. Do you want to
* turn back or
* follow in your leader’s footsteps?
* proceed into the swamp?
[NAME] has stepped into a deep swamp hole and is unable to get out without help.
[NAME] has stepped right into a deep swamp hole and is starting to sink. Do you
* get a rope to pull [NAME] out together or
* waste no time and grasp the hand reaching toward you?
Pity. While you wasted your time futilely searching for a rope, [NAME] sank without trace.
I’m sorry. You fail to rescue the sinking [NAME].
Through tremendous effort, you have managed to free [NAME].
Despite your concerted efforts, you are unable to prevent [NAME] sinking out of sight.
Pulling together with all your strength, you manage to draw [NAME] out from the mud bit by bit.
Even though [NAME] has managed to grasp the hand of [NAME], [NAME] continues to sink and disappears up to the neck when [NAME] finally manages to get rid of the backpack with the free hand.
Now [NAME] is lighter, but even so, [NAME] disappears beneath the surface of the mud with a gurgling noise.
Now that [NAME] is lighter, [NAME] strength is sufficient to draw [NAME] free from the mud.
[NAME] indeed manages to grasp the hand of [NAME] and pull [NAME] out from the threatening swamp hole.
Setting not a foot wrong the entire way, [NAME] leads your party around all the dangerous swamp holes.
There are [N] men with swords standing on the road ahead of you. They watch you approach carefully. When you are about ten paces away, one of them steps forward and hails you: “You stand accused of committing a foul murder in Gashok. Throw down your weapons and surrender!”
Do you* Flee
* Fight
* or Surrender?
The bailiffs tie you up as securely as they can and throw the lot of you onto an ox cart. First they make sure all spell users among you are thoroughly gagged and blindfolded. They are quite obviously nervous and do not leave you out of their sight for a second: apparently, they are quite afraid of you. After some very uncomfortable days on the road, you reach Gashok, where you are thrown into a room at the inn. Exhausted from the rigors of the journey, you immediately drop off into a deep slumber…
Suddenly, an Orcish patrol appears around a bend in the road. There is no chance to flee anymore.
Under a tree by the side of the road, a man is sitting with his eyes closed. When you pass by, he suddenly opens his eyes and looks you over. “You’re going the wrong way, dear friends. This is the final caution.”
Then there is a soft “Whummp”, and he disappears right in front of your very eyes. All that remains is a small, steaming heap of leaves he sat on and a lingering smell of brimstone.
You notice a deer in the undergrowth. Will you try to shoot it?
[NAME] is about twenty paces away from the animal, when it suddenly lifts its head and looks straight into [NAME] eyes. Then it vanishes into the forest with some wide leaps.
[NAME] kills the deer as if [he/she] hadn’t done anything else [his/her] whole life.
The [NAME] whizzes past its goal, and the deer makes tracks. Bright animal, that…
Who will give it a try, then?
Not that it’s any of my business, but [NAME] doesn’t have a weapon capable of killing a deer from this distance.
Antharon
There’s a traveler sitting by the wayside having a snack of bread and hard sausage. When he sees you approach, he gives a friendly wave.
“You must be on the way to Lowangen, right? And you look like you could use a bit of a rest, as well. How about keeping me company for a while, then - we could share a comfy little snack first and then continue toward Lowangen together afterward. What do you say?”
“Sure!”
“Sorry, but we haven’t got time for a rest!”
“We’re not going to Lowangen.”
“My name is Antharon. I know my way around these parts - and around Lowangen, too. It’s nice to have company on the way there with all those blackpelts hanging around making the roads unsafe.” After a short meal, you continue your travels alongside Antharon.
“All right, but you can still take me along. Hold on, I’ll just get my things together.”
“Fine, but get a move on.”
“We can do without someone tagging along!”
“Antharon’s the name. I know this area well - and I know Lowangen, too. Boy, it’s nice to have someone along on the way to Lowangen. You know, with the blackpelts all over the place, it’s just not safe anymore.”
“Whatever you say. But we’ll meet again, I can guarantee that - in Lowangen at the latest!”
“Well, in that case, let me wish you happy trails, wherever the road takes you.”
You come across a small brook. In the clear water, you can see some trout frolicing. Do you
* fill your water skins?
* fish?
or do both?
I don’t remember anyone here packing fishing gear. Eh? Eh? That’s what I thought.
Well done!
They just won’t bite. Blasted fish!
We almost stumbled right into an Orcish encampment, but we just managed to turnback before we were spotted.
Boy, that was close!
In front of Lowangen, we came across an Orcish encampment. They took all our weapons, armor and all our gear. After they’d cleaned us out, though, they let us go.
We reached Rorkvell; unfortunately, the town is occupied by the Orcs.
We were surprised by a band of Orcs. They took us prisoners and carried us off. After two days walking, blindfolded nonetheless, we reached a cave - obviously the goal of our journey.
We have found Artherion, the Elf. He has told us about his experiences in Gashok.
We found Artherion, the Elf. But we must have made some mistake, because he set fire to his hut and died in the flames before we had a chance to do something about it. What a loon!
We were at Artherion’s again today. He had already heard about the goings-onin Gashok and was quite pleased. Also, he made us a present of two weapons, a sword and a bow.
We have reached a small town by the name of [NAME].
There are the ruins of a small, ancient castle at the eastern edge of a small clearing. Here ends the secret passage from the castle of Grey Staves in Lowangen.
We have reached a peculiar badlands area: to call it a “desert” would actually be a compliment for this hellhole. The worst aspect of it is the unbearable stink over the entire place.
We came across a Basilisc. The stories they tell about this creature are quite true: we were unable to stand its sight or its stink!
We have reached a small town by the name of [NAME]. From here on, we’ll continue our journey by water.
A short way outside Kvirasim, we came across a host of Orcs attacking a priestess.As Her thanks for our help, the Goddess Rondra, speaking through her priestess,“lent” us some of Her experience. None of us feel any different than before,but I guess we’ll soon find out what to make of it.
We sacrificed to the Gods at a waterfall. In the guise of a lizard, the GoddessTsa gave us all new strength.
Along the road, we met the baron of Meresfeld. Apparently, [NAME] aroused his ire,as the baron challenged [NAME] to a duel.
On the way, we met one baron of Meresfeld.
We were attacked by an enraged mother bear on our travels.
Today, we met a rather spooky figure. It appeared to be a man, but we couldn’tmake out anything beyond that. The figure told us to take “it” to Lowangen. Yourguess is as good as mine as to what he meant by that.
[NAME] almost died in a fall.
We have just entered the infamous Old Svellt Swamps.
We have managed to leave the infamous Old Svellt Swamps again.
Some fellow sitting by the side of the road warned us against continuing in thesame direction. The interesting thing about this is that he vanished into thinair immediately afterward - and he left quite a bad smell!
Some fellows, equiped with swords, are standing ahead, attentively watching yourapproaching. When you are about 10[N]paces away, suddenly more of them break throughthe bushes ahead and behind you. From the direction you’ve come, you see ridersapproaching.
“You stand accused of committing a foul murder in Gashok. Further you are suspectedof having killed some henchmen of the town guard. Drop your weapons and we’llhand you over to the judiciary of Gashok!”
Do you want to
fight against the over 50[N]men of the guard, or
surrender to their superior strength.
Do you really want to fight against a whole company of the emperial guards regiment?
After a few hits of the emperial fighters you are lying in your own blood,dead!
As dusk is falling, you set an improvised camp and go to sleep, totallyexhausted.
[NAME] has fallen to death in the mountains. His body couldn’t be found anywhere.
You tithe all of your money and continue your journey.
